Packing's a bitch

Finally leaving for New Orleans tomorrow morning! Planning is not exactly our strong suit, so we don't really have anything on the itinerary (save for two dinner resys). I figure we'll wander around and follow our stomachs. One of the hardest parts about packing for me is deciding what cameras to bring. I really do want to travel light, but that never works. I did swap out the Mamiya C330 for the little Minolta. That should help our shoulders a bit. Oh and of course my phone should be in that picture too.

I'm also no good at creating "style in a suitcase." I'm bringing neutral colored tees and a blazer or two. Usually I end up under-packing, clothing wise, but it won't kill me to wear a tee twice. J and I end up sharing a carry-on so there's really no room to pack any more, and the cameras are priority. ;)

Will be back with much to share, I'm sure.

  4. i can relate, even though i only have one camera to carry. i do get a little flustered sometimes when i'm bringing multiple lenses. multitasking is not my thing.

    haven fun!

  5. Oh how I get the feeling! Although I became pretty skillful at packing since the frequent traveling, I still dread the moment...and choosing what camera to bring along doesn't make it any easier. Have fun in New Orleans!

  13. Can't wait to read your entries and see your pictures from New Orleans! We truly have some amazing good eats here. If you have time some of my favorites are:
    - Jacquemo's, their alligator cheesecake was featured on Food Networks Best Thing I ever ate. I personally LOVE their garlic corn bread they serve before meals and the rabbit pasta. The tend to have a pretty long wait so I like to go right at 5PM when they open and avoid the lines.
    - Cochon Butcher, gorgeous lunch place to really get a small new orleans feel.
    - Dragos, they have two locations. No matter which one you go too you MUST try their chargrilled oysters. Absolutely AMAZING. I like mine with lemon and tabasco squeezed on top. =)
    - GW Finns, fancy dinner place with some of the most amazing lobster dumplings I've ever had. They specialize in seafood. I tend to like all their appetizers more then their entrees.
    - Crabby Jack's is my favorite place to get poboys. They're owned by the same people who own Jacquemo's so they have a lot of the same menu items.
And of course they have the crawfish and such. It's Mardi Gras season now so you should check out the parade schedule to see if they'll have any parades rolling downtown. They usually run friday nights, saturday nights, and sunday afternoon. (If you're driving it's also smart to know if a parade will be running to avoid the closed streets)

  14. OHHH and I forgot one more place, haha Dat's Dogs. One of the best hotdog places around. The crawfish, the sausage, the alligator ALL taste amazing, especially with boudin sauce on top.
